Landed cost before the offer

The price on the lot is EXW. What you compare against your shelf price is landed: EXW, excise at your country’s rate, VAT, and transport to your warehouse. The excise part is the one most often left to the end, and it is the one that differs most between countries.

The formula the market uses

Still wine is taxed per litre, spirits per litre of pure alcohol, beer per hectolitre per degree. Rates come from the Taxes in Europe Database and carry an effective date.
